An unmissable aerial adventure in the Vercors
Located at the southern gateway to the Parc Naturel Régional du Vercors, the Via Ferrata du Claps is one of the region's most spectacular vertical experiences. Nestled in the heart of the listed Le Claps site in Luc-en-Diois, this activity offers a perfect blend of adrenalin and contemplation. Unlike canyoning, which plunges you into the water, here you'll be towering above the rocky chaos and turquoise waters of the Drôme river. This is the ideal itinerary for those wishing to experience the thrill of the vertical while enjoying breathtaking panoramic views.
Whether you're an athlete or a family looking for a thrill, this Intermediate (rated AD+) course is sure to please. The ingenious route uses the weaknesses of the limestone cliff to offer a playful progression, alternating between traversing ledges and vertical walls. Accompanied by our enthusiastic guides, you'll enjoy a safe ride on this balcony of the Diois, where every hold brings you a little closer to the summit and a breathtaking view of the valley.
A Unique GEOLogicAL Site
The "Claps" is no ordinary cliff. It is the result of a gigantic historical rockfall that has barricaded the valley, creating a chaotic landscape of tangled boulders. The via ferrata climbs the opposite side of the Pic de Luc, offering a unique perspective on this geological curiosity. To climb here is to cross the history of the earth, suspended between sky and river, in a mineral atmosphere
Why choose Le Claps?
This route stands out for its accessibility and beauty. Less physically demanding than its Chironne neighbor, the Via Ferrata du Claps remains a true mountain climb. Ambitious beginners and teenagers alike can test their nerve without getting into trouble. Furthermore, its location near swimming areas makes it the perfect activity for a full day of mountain and water activities: climb in the morning and cool off in the Drôme River in the afternoon.

Obstacles & Sensations
The Via Ferrata du Claps route is designed to gradually build up in strength.
Aerial ledges (Traverses): The signature of this via feratta. You'll progress sideways over long rocky ledges (like the "Vire du Pin"), with the void beneath your feet and a plunging view of the railway viaduct and the river.
Vertical Walls: Several steep sections equipped with metal rungs will test your arms. Although vertical, these sections remain accessible and enjoyable to climb.
Panoramic view of the Drôme: From the top of the cliff, you overlook the waterfalls of the Drôme and the natural pools below.
Important note: The route includes an escape route halfway through, allowing you to exit if you become tired. For the more adventurous, an optional rappel descent is sometimes possible, depending on the instructor.

Frequently Asked Questions
How difficult is this via ferrata for a first-timer?

Come in sportswear (soft pants or long shorts), with a windproof jacket (the weather can change quickly in the mountains) and, of course, closed-toe sports shoes with rubber soles. Also take water (1L per person) and an energy bar.Can we do canyoning on the same day?
Yes, the Diois is full of canyons (like the Canyon du Rio Sourd). It's perfectly possible to do the Via Ferrata in the morning and a canyoning run in the afternoon for a 100% adventure day. Contact us to organize this combo.EMAIL: contact@revedecimes.com
