L'Aventure Verticale in Presles

Welcome to the realm of verticality. Multi-pitch climbing in the Vercors is more than just a sporting activity; it's a total immersion in the void, a dance with the rock on legendary walls that have shaped the history of climbing in France. If you've already mastered the basics of climbing and dream of leaving single-pitch routes behind to reach the summits, this experience is tailor-made for you. Here, there's no returning to the ground after 30 meters: you link pitches together, manage your effort, and experience the pure thrill of exposure.

The Vercors massif, and more specifically the Presles cliffs, offers a world-renowned climbing playground. Imagine walls of grey and ochre limestone soaring nearly 300 meters high, overlooking the Bourne gorges or the Royans valley. Whether you want to become independent by learning belay and rappel techniques, or simply be guided on a challenging route, our outings are designed for intermediate to advanced climbers (5c minimum). It's the perfect opportunity to push your limits, guided by experts who know this massif intimately.

The Essentials in Brief

Level: Intermediate / Sporty (Level 5c required, mastery of belaying).

Minimum Age: 12 years (if experienced practitioner) / Ideal for adults.

Length: Half day (4 hours) or Full day depending on the objective.

Special Note: Commitment and emotional management are mandatory!

MULTI PITCH ROUTES

To get to this stage, you have to master the initiation level 2 and feel at ease with lead climbing. Minimum level required : 5c (5.8). We will adapt to your level and will propose you a progression planning.

 Three possibilities :

1. Traineeship and self-reliance. Learning of the specific techniques in order to get self-reliant on multi pitch routes. Learning done on “small” multi pitch routes.

2.Guiding in a route of your choice. You will climb top rope and learn a little less than the first possibility.

3. First experience of trad multi pitch routes. Very few equipment on the rock, you will learn to put your own protections.

- Learning of the belay

- Learning to belay the second climber

- Learning to deal with rope friction

- Learning of the abseil

- Learning to put nut, friends and tape slings (option trad)

- Learning of the pulley system (to help your partner)

The experience

The Multi-Pitch Experience

The activity focuses on climbing walls from 80 to 300 meters high.

Absolute Verticality: The heart of the experience lies in linking several pitches (multi-pitch). You climb, belay your partner from a suspended anchor, and set off again. The sensation of emptiness deepens beneath your feet with every meter gained.

The Vertiginous Abseils: Often, the descent is as memorable as the ascent. Prepare for rappels (often mandatory) where you'll slide down the rope, suspended above the void. It's a key moment to savor the scenery.

Aerial Atmosphere: Unlike crag climbing, here the isolation is real. You are surrounded by nature, often accompanied by the flight of vultures or peregrine falcons.

Important Note: Level 5c is mandatory. It is essential to be comfortable with heights and have prior climbing experience.

Security and Professional Equipment

Multi-pitch climbing requires preparation. You will be supervised by state-certified instructors specializing in the Vercors region and adventure climbing terrain. We provide all the necessary safety equipment (double ropes, helmets, harnesses, belay devices, lanyards, quickdraws). You will learn or refine essential techniques: setting up anchors, belaying the second climber, rope drag management, and self-belayed rappelling. Your safety is our top priority so you can focus on the enjoyment of climbing.
